The Lost Boys

Whichever era fans were introduced to the 1975, the love that the boys share for anyone is how I’ve grown a deep connection with all four of the band members. Obviously not as personal as we wish, but in a way where they understand what we (the fans) mean and feel while listening to their albums. For most music listeners, people can hear a song without understanding it’s meaning and still enjoy it. This band has been the first to combine my emotions and excitement for everything they are.

One of my favorite posters of the 1975 during their self-titled era. (From left to right) Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann, Matthew Healy (lead singer), George Daniel.

Anyone who doesn’t have a clue who they are might think they’re chic and angsty with a band name like that. Try asking me, the person who’s had to explain that name came from a book Matty praised and that they weren’t actually born in 1975. The band members each deliver their own musical talent in creating the sounds they share with their fans. From the bass in Ross’s hands to the drums beat by George (and not forgetting Adam’s guitar patches), the interpersonal connection of sound and emotion becomes a reality for fans.

As a fan, finding a few ways to show them off to friends definitely gives my dorm room the top-tier “stan” aesthetic. Collecting and hanging up these posters is a colorful timeline of the way the 1975 has presented themselves in each of their albums. The musical shift of emotion changes incredibly over the albums. Through listening into the lyrics and sounds in each album, fans can understand that from the darkness; light will always shine through. That’s only just one message the 1975 has promised and engraved in their fans.

Intro: the Era of the 1975

Hey there guys! I’m Ryan Torres, a junior college student studying journalism. I’m also pop music fan for a band straight out of Manchester, my favorite music artist the 1975! The boys have such a huge importance in my life and how I appreciate music. Which is probably why you’re also here on my page! One of my favorite parts about the band is how much I support their musical career and the impact they have on other fans. I’ve had opportunities to experience the 1975 in ways I couldn’t have imagined, so I’ve decided to show my pride for them with all of you.

What I hope to explore is finding out how many other people out there feel the same way I do about the 1975, or maybe their favorite artist. Since the fanbase is always so kind to each other, I would love to try interacting with other “stans” as we call it. I’ve enjoyed watching this huge following the 1975 has created over the past few years. It’s made it feel like one huge family, sharing and listening to the same songs that makes up our lives.

Posts will consist of my experiences with the band and the feelings and thoughts I’ve had during my time living in the same era as them. I also want to enlighten those that haven’t had the chance to experience the band a look into why they should give them a try, and what parts of them mean the most to me. I would also love to make this an opportunity to share and talk about anything 1975 related (seriously, this is my favorite pastime). This is also what I do on the majority of my platforms!, that including my social: @hnscclove on Twitter
