Summary

Coming to a great end of the year, I’ve decided to share some final thoughts with all of you about this 1975 blogging experience.

I was thinking of new ways to improve this blog, and I suggested to myself that I should post their music in links. Including videos in my site are another great way to show the band off to my readers. Some other ways I could’ve shared my content might’ve been through Tumblr. I have plenty of posts about them on there already, so it would’ve just made it even better.

My best experience about this semester has been the fact that I could share my love for the 1975 with other people. No other assignment compares to it. I’m sure this blogging experience taught me that music is permanence, even if you share it in your own words. I might use this blog as a potential portfolio opportunity, I’d love to work as a band manager one day, so I could share news and photos of my band. The one surprising (but also not surprising) part of this blog, is my lack of views. Not sure how many people like the 1975, but trust me my content is decent!

My Tour Updates post was a perfect post for me, it was the most recent as well.

Tour Updates

Hey guys and girls, I have a special post for you all this evening. This will be about my 1975 concert experience for Sugar Land! I’ll also mention what the next plans are for the Austin 360 show.

To start off; the weather was terrible Friday evening. It was so bad, that after about 28 hours of camping, the show had to be cancelled. As soon as we got word of it, we darted towards Houston through the storm for (what we thought would be our only show) the 1975 in Sugar Land. Thankfully, we made it early enough to secure our spots in the line.

After literally hours of waiting, we finally received our official wristbands from the band’s tour manager, which secured our spot as the 1st 100 people in line. The anxiety was building up by now, me and my friends had been through so much to see them live, and it was finally going to happen once again.

The show’s energy really shined whenever the boys walked on stage, the amount screaming was deafening (including my own). The 1975 performed a fulfilling show for the crowd tonight, for which i’m always thankful.

Catch me for my next post tomorrow! I’ll share a compilation of photos I took of the 1975 with you all soon x

Favorite 1975 memorabilia

To begin my next round of posts for the 1975, I decided I should show you all my favorite bits of memorabilia from them. I was trying to think about what exactly I should share first, so I thought about the box set I had along with some other items like my cassettes and autographed postcard. This is also one of the last posts leading up to the tour dates on Friday and Saturday as well! Been looking forward to posting some content about the shows very soon!

The first bit I wanted to talk about was the photo book that came with the box set during the I like it when you sleep era. The white, thin book has a soft cover to it which is nice. It’s still really clean and white since I haven’t opened it up since purchasing the box set. The pictures inside are all of the boys during the late 2014 tours leading up to ILIWYS. There’s honestly so many great photos of the boys in the photo book, I really appreciate having it near by.

Some other items I’ve collected from the band are my album cassettes and this signed postcard! The self-titled cassette is from Urban Outfitters and the ABIIOR one is from the gift set I bought when the album released. The postcard also came with the set, which was one of my favorite items I’ve gotten of the band. They each signed the card with their names which makes me giddy to think about. I especially like Adam’s signature, the x always gets me.

Until next time, I’ll see you after the shows this weekend! x

FYG: U festival at Texas State

Interview with Jake at Gaillardia Fest 2019

Hey music lovers! I have a quick update on some new content I decided to make and post for you all, even the non-1975 fans. I danced all night with friends at FYG: U Gaillardia Fest at Texas State University. This is my interview with Jake, a new festival-goer, about his experience at Gaillardia Fest 2019! Hope you enjoy. #FDOM19

Soundtrack of my Life

The few songs that I have saved in my memory are mostly the 1975, which I’ve grown to appreciate over time. From someone who didn’t like the song “Chocolate” at the beginning of liking this band, I feel like their music soundtracks my life now. Not to say that in a cliche way, but I’ve never felt so compelled by the words they sing. In this post today, I wanted to mention some of my favorite tracks from the band. I’m also going to mention which one my favorites I enjoy the most during a 1975 concert.

I wanted to start off with “Pressure” from the self-titled album, which to me is the most raw. The saxophone bridge in the song is played by John Waugh, giving a soulful experience to any one who listens. The band made a later song called, “She’s American“, a track from their second album “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it”. The song is definitely another beautiful example of the 1975’s music, and was my favorite off the entire album. “HNSCC” is an instrumental the band made during the Music for Cars EP, which even without lyrics is the most emotional track to me out of all their discography.

Some of my favorite songs to experience live at the band’s shows really make me feel alive, especially whenever every fan in the room is screaming the lyrics just as loud as you. Matty always has to show some moves during songs like “Heart Out” and “Ugh!”, which always sets the concert in a good mood. From the last show, I remember one of my favorite songs that they performed was “Medicine“, which made me very emotional (why lie). The design was perfect for the song, felt like nothing I’d ever been through before.

Feel free to let me know whatever your favorite tracks are by replying to my tweet! Thanks for stoppin’ by.

Hidden notes in Vinyl

Today on my 1975 blog, I wanted to share the collection of 1975 vinyls that I’ve made over the past years. It’s not as massive compared to other fans, but I selected and kept the vinyls that had my favorite songs on them. The band has made these records for fans to have a solid memory of their music. They’re also known to have spiked up the sale in vinyl records since the band began issuing pressing them. In this post, you can see my top five favorite vinyls from the 1975.

To start the list off, I wanted to talk about the Music for Cars (EP) vinyl that I bought my freshman year of high school. I remember it was a randomly rare drop of the EP vinyls, so I knew I had to get my hands on this one especially (even if I was in class at that time). HNSCC is my favorite song off the record, it really defines the MFC era they’re approaching to. Milk (the single) came wrapped like a present, and is one of my favorite rare vinyls of the band.

Another aspect of the 1975 vinyls I thought was worth mentioning, is that only a few of them have etchings on the ring of the record. By that, I mean secret notes Matty must’ve written on the pressing during the creation of the records. One of my favorite quotes off the vinyls I have is from the Medicine (EP), where at a specific lighting you can see the line . “If god made anything better, he kept it for himself”. (look into the first reply on Matty’s tweet, and you’ll see what I mean.)

I hope to continue to expand my collection as the band continues to pour out new records over the next few years. Until next time, God Bless The 1975.

Favorite 1975 account

In before I forget to put this post up, I forgot to mention a great account that tweets fresh information about the 1975 and their current tours! @The1975_Tour is probably my favorite, fan-ran account that follows up on the band and informs us on anything new to know. Aside from the tour manager, Jamie, that gives us details from time-to-time, this twitter account is especially helpful during the stressful tours.

I remember during the Austin date, I wasn’t sure about how the camping would work out for the venue, so I was extremely nervous about being uninformed and missing out. I got an idea and simply searched up the 1975 and Austin as keywords in tweets, and immediately found @The1975_Tour account! I asked them what I wasn’t sure about and they let me know all I needed in order to make it in time to line up in the queue.

Without this twitter account, I probably wouldn’t have been able to camp out in time, to get a good spot at the barricade and even hold Matty’s hand. Throughout the new tour, I plan on following up on any new tweets and news @The1975_Tour has about the 1975. For another honest reason, it’s one of my favorite 1975 accounts because they repost new photos of the boys every day! Always serving the fans up right.

Tour Planning!

For today’s post, I thought I should talk about my plans for the 1975’s tour this year! 2019 is already set to be the most exciting/exhausting experience I’ve ever had with concerts. Ever. This year, I’ll be going to more than one date in the North American tour (even when I realized how much of a broke college student I am). With the new release of A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships, I don’t mind how much it took for me to get there, I already know this tour will have so much in-store for us fans!

One of the first dates that I should be attending is the second Texas date in Austin. I’ve seen them in the city before, whenever we camped out for the last time we saw them, but this date will be at a slightly larger venue. The new stage setup is probably why they had to move away from smaller venues (another part of the tour I’m excited to see!). The second date will also be in Texas. I’ve never had the chance to visit Sugar Land before so I’m curious to see how plans will play out. Especially with the dates being literally back-to-back AND planning to camp out (for both?).

Matty singing “Paris” at The Revention Music Center in Houston, TX. The ILIWYS tour had pretty visuals, but this upcoming tour will definitely top this one.

The most recent update on my third & last show of the tour before “NOACF” is finally official! Me and my best friend, Leslie, are making plans to visit New York City for the Governor’s Ball on June 1st. The 1975 are playing the first day of June for the festival, which to fans, is very important to understanding some context behind the band. I’ve never been to NY or even another state for a concert before, so this will be the pivotal moment in my summer plans without a doubt!

In full living Colour

Hey there everyone! Welcome back to another post I felt was worth making before logging off. To start this one off, if you’re an avid fan then you know that the 1975 use a neon with their name in it as their first two album covers. The 1975 debut album was black/white and “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it” was pink/white. Something about the choice of colors had to have been intentional, I’m pretty sure it described the emotional tone of each album.

The neon signs they have throughout their album art and stage design gives me inspiration to find true emotion in color. I personally feel in love when I see tones of red or pink, which was what the second album really resonated as its core feeling to me. That’s what the photo below has to do with, I actually received a neon outline of their box symbol from someone I found true (love within).

My personal 1975 (red) neon sign.

Sincerely, it’s one of the most significant gifts I own, given to me from someone who shared a love for the 1975 just as much. This was for my 16th birthday, and I’ve had it since. My favorite part of the neon sign is that the red hue covers my entire room, which always sets the mood for vibey music sessions.

Matty always mentioned the same renown quote that stood out to me in their music videos. This made me understand why they used so many beautiful colors in their albums.

La poésie est dans la rue en couleur pleine de vie.

The poetry is in the streets in full living color.”

fallingforthe1975

Hey there! Today on my 1975 fan site, we’ll talk about one of my most memorable moments with the band, or particularly the lead singer (Matty Healy). This took place around May in 2017, the 1975 were going to play a show from their “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it” tour in Austin, TX that day. This was about the third time I’d see them that year, and would end up being the last until their new tour starts back up around May 2019 in the US.

The show was at a small venue called the ACL Moody Theater in downtown Austin. Me and a very close friend of mine decided it was a better idea to camp out for the show, just to get as close as possible to the barricade inside the venue. We finally arrived to the venue to see that a line was already being made for the queuing. We received numbers #38 & #39 to hold our spot in the line. This was a completely new experience for the both of us, we hadn’t been to a show for any other band an entire night before the date, so it was super exciting to camp out with other 1975 fans before the show!

The numbers we received in the queue we camped outside for.

Whenever it finally came to the day of the show, we were so excited that it didn’t matter if we had only slept two hours (max) on the roof of the Moody Theater, we were about to see the 1975 for the last time for a while. Once the venue’s team allowed the fans who camped out into the stage area, the energy was becoming surreal. We secured a spot right at barricade for the 1975 for the first time ever, so we were incredibly excited.

Fans who had been to a show on the tour before could tell when the show was about to begin, with the radiating ringing noise…followed by screams of hundreds of fans, then Matty walking out to the front of the stage shouting “Welcome your favorite band, the 1975!”. We jammed our hearts out, up until “fallingforyou” came on. Matty was really working his way into our feelings with that song, so he kept walking up to the very end of the stage where barricade was and sung to us. There was a moment during the song where he came directly up to me, and leaned in to hold my hand (twice). I hadn’t felt so alive in my life, the emotions of connecting myself with my favorite artist compares to no other memory of the 1975.
